A granny square is a beginner friendly pattern that works great for learning how to read pattern. It makes you start to become aware of stitch counts and there are so many options for projects you can use these squares for! Leave me a comment if you have a question!
What do you need?
– Worsted Weight Yarn
– Size I crochet hook
– Scissors
Stitches
CH – Chain
DC – Double Crochet
SL ST – Slip Stitch
Round 1: Ch 4, 2 DC in the first ch, [CH2, 3 DC]*3 times, CH2, SL ST to the top of the first CH 4.
Round 2: CH 3, flip the square over (you will be working into the corner CH2 space), 2DC CH2 3DC, [CH1, 3DC, CH2, 3DC]*3 times, CH1, SL ST to the top of the CH3.
Round 3: CH 3, flip the square over (you will be working into the CH1 space), 2DC in the CH1 space, CH 1, [3DC, CH2, 3DC, CH1, 3DC in CH1 space, CH1]* 3 times, CH 1, SL ST to top of CH 3.
You can continue repeating the pattern for each round -> 3DC in every CH1 space with CH1 in between, 3DC CH2 3DC in every corner space.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Happy Hookin’!
